Hjälstaviken - a lake of rich bird life. The nature reserve of Hjälstaviken north-west of Stockholm is an important resting place for migratory birds such as waders, ducks and geese. A total of 245 species of birds have been observed on the reserve and around 110 of these breed here each year. Some birds that can be seen or heard in Hjälstaviken: Osprey, Spotted Crake, Crane, Ruff, Great Snipe and Scarlet Rose finch.The area has been listes in the international Convention of Wetlands. |
